About NEFLIN
NEFLIN is one of six non-profit, library cooperatives committed to serving libraries throughout Florida. Established in 1992, NEFLIN's members employ over 2,300 staff at 525 public, academic, school, and special libraries located within our 20 county service area. NEFLIN's service area includes Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Sumter, Suwannee, and Union counties.
NEFLIN's Headquarters, located in Orange Park outside Jacksonville, is the center of the cooperative. With a staff of only three MLS librarians and one support and administrative staff, it is amazing the work that is accomplished. The organization is managed by an executive director and is governed by the 9-member Board of Directors, made up of elected representatives from member libraries.
Through grant funding and membership dues, NEFLIN provides members access to training and continuing education, resource sharing, research and development, partnerships for grant funding, leadership opportunities, and additional services through relationships with other organizations. In 2006, the $1.1 million budget came from 37% in state grants, 23% in federal grants, 36% in other sources, and just 4% in member dues.
