What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
ILL is a free service designed to allow library patrons to borrow books and articles that are not owned by the Suwannee River Regional Library System.
Who can request ILL items?
Patrons who are in good standing with the library and whose records are up to date may request materials.
How do I request an ILL?
ILL requests are made at the circulation desk of any branch within the system. The patron is given a form to fill out with their name, phone number, title/subject, and/or author of the book or article.
What is available through ILL?
- Fiction and Nonfiction books for juveniles, young adults, and adults
- Photocopies of magazine or newspaper articles
- Microfilm and Microfiche
What is NOT available through ILL?
- Books published within the last 6 months.
- Videos, DVDs.*
- Audiotapes or CDs.
- Books owned by the Suwannee River Regional Library System.
* Some Nonfiction videos are available through the State Library of Florida. See your Circulation Desk for more information.*
How many items can I request and how long will it take?
- A patron may have 3 ILL requests at any given time.
- Normally, a request is filled within six weeks, but often requires only two weeks.
Will I be notified when my item(s) arrive?
Yes. When an item is received, the patron is then called or mailed a notice, depending on their request for notification. We will then hold the item for five days. If the patron does not pick up requested item(s), we will send the item(s) back to the lending library.
How long can I keep my ILL items?
- The patron can keep the materials for 2 weeks. At that time, they may request to keep them for 2 more weeks, but only if the lender allows a renewal.
- Overdue fees are 10 cents per day, per item.
- Patrons will be held financially responsible for lost or damaged ILL items
